Suzlon Foundation and Project GreenHands continue to strive together towards mitigating Climate Change

A Climate Change mitigation program through tree plantating was launched on October 5th at Kittampalayam village of district Coimbatore with the support of Suzlon Foundation


 
 

The project aims to create a mindset among the stakeholders, particularly the farmers, that the agroforestry model of tree plantation is a potential source of livelihood and also a way out of environmental degradation. Fruit tree plantation will be promoted in residential areas as a participative family effort towards nutritional sufficiency. In total, 25000 trees will be planted by March 2011.

Dr. P. Umanath IAS, District Collector of Coimbatore inaugurated the project by planting tree at Kittampalyam school premises. Mr. J.M. Balamurugan IAS, CEO, Isha Foundation, Mr.K. SampathKumar, Sulur Panchayat President, Mrs. Jothimani Ramasami, Mr. Murali Venugopal & Mr. Hariharan from Suzlon, Mr. Ethirajulu from Project GreenHands were the other dignitaries for the occasion.
